David Lyday, PT, DPT
Founder, Owner, and Doctor of Physical Therapy
Biography
David Lyday is the owner and founder of Daylight Physical Therapy, LLC, a premium one-on-one outpatient clinic in Lees Summit, Missouri. Born and raised in Lees Summit, David is deeply invested in serving the community he calls home and providing care that goes beyond traditional physical therapy.
He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Southwest Baptist University in 2013, after completing his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the same institution in 2010. With over 13 years of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, David has treated a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, spine disorders, post-operative cases, neurologic conditions, and general orthopedic injuries.
David has advanced training and mentorship through the International Association of Orthopedic Medicine (IAOM), with a strong emphasis on skilled manual therapy and precise differential diagnosis. He has a particular passion for helping patients with chronic spine pain, where he finds the greatest reward in restoring function and improving long-term quality of life.
Daylight Physical Therapy was founded from a desire to offer something deeper and more intentional than the traditional physical therapy model. David is committed to providing true one-on-one care — where patients work with the same doctor of physical therapy every visit, without handoffs or divided attention. His approach focuses on treating the whole person, not just the injury, while building meaningful relationships with patients, families, and referring providers.
He believes patients should feel heard, valued, and cared for — not rushed through a system driven by productivity. His goal is for every patient to leave feeling they received more than just physical therapy, but a truly personalized and transformative healthcare experience.
David's passion for physical therapy began early, after volunteering at a donation-funded clinic in Matamoros, Mexico that served children with cerebral palsy. That experience shaped his long-term vision of using physical therapy as a means to serve others locally and globally. He hopes to expand Daylight Physical Therapy in the future to support medical mission opportunities both in the U.S. and internationally.
Outside of the clinic, David enjoys spending time with his wife and children, being active in his church, and staying physically active through backpacking, cycling, and strength training. He also enjoys playing guitar and spending time with family and friends.
